It looks as if Apple has been granted a patent surrounding “ejectable component assemblies” that are designed to be “flush with the external surfaces of the housings of the devices, despite variations in their manufacture.” In other words, a SIM card tray.

Apple secures patent on multiple-arm, multiple-frequency antenna design:

In simple(ish) terms, the patent details an antenna structure in a portable electronic device that’s comprised of “first, second, and third resonating elements aligned along a common axis parallel to a ground plane,” with a multiple-arm, multiple-frequency design taking shape. It’s also pretty clear that the intention here is to reduce radio-frequency interference between the antennas — something that’ll prove increasingly important as wave support is added in future iPhones.

iTunes is Doing Big Things:

Blu-ray’s been atop the home entertainment mountain, with only fleeting competition from HD-DVDs, ever since its introduction. But, does iTunes really provide the crystal clear quality we’re accustomed to seeing from its disc-based competition? The good folks at Ars Technica decided to find out using the film 30 Days of Night, and results were mixed. It seems that supreme video quality still comes via optical drive, but if you’re willing to sacrifice a smidge, the iTunes alternative is still pretty darn good.

My Current Obsession:

I’m frantically racking my brain in an attempt to learn how to use this music production software from Propellerhead, Reason 6, all from scratch. No tutorials, no instructions, just plain old trial and error. It’s much harder than I thought it would be… If, like myself, you’re not a producer by trade, this will prove to be an insanely complex and intuitive tool for you. As it stands, there are very few that can comprehend and utilize Reason with ease. I’m anxious to become one of the elite few. Wish me luck…
